Sunset Swifts

The sunsets on Kalymnos are almost always show- stoppers, watching at least one from the Grande Grotta cave above Masouri is a must for any visitor to the island! During the spring, this enormous cave is home to many nesting birds, my favourites are the alpine swifts that tumble into the sky around dusk.

Originally painted as a double page spread in my sketchbook, using watercolour and gouache paint and coloured pencils.
